kinpika: (You Did Not Just Go There)

[After that debacle at the Smith's and punching his own lights out, shame and embarrassment greatly set in on the proud man. How many people saw him in that condition after all? When the postman said he had something for him, Gilgamesh put on his angry face and walked his bum over to the post office.

And lost his left eye along with quite a bit more for his trouble. But got back something in the process.

Driven half insane by the pain and the need to remain prideful, the blood coming from his missing eye and mouth makes him look like he fought his way out of an asylum. Oh, but he's laughing and enjoying every second of it. If you catch him walking down the street, well...]

Hahahaha! Foolish mongrels! Perfect proof that this king cannot be held back by mere mortal limitations is standing before you! Those who dare, come forth!

[Fair warning: Action threading may result in violence/death. Just pop in the subject line that you don't want that, have limits, or are chill with it and I'll be cool with it. LANCER, FATE, AND SABER ARE GUARANTEED VIOLENCE.]

That is what makes us powerful, fool. The bigger the myth, the more powerful.

[chaos smiles a bit at Gilgamesh now.]

I am no fool. A fool is either a jester, who tends to know far more than what he lets on but otherwise plays the role of entertainment, or someone without knowledge. I am neither, although I admit I will sometimes forget the knowledge of certain times.

Regardless of your definitions, I will call you what I like.

[chaos closes his eyes, and after a few moments silence, looks at Gilgamesh and speaks.]

"The gods kept hearing the complaints of the people of Uruk, and so they implored Aruru:
- You have indeed brought into being a mighty wild bull, head raised!
- There is no rival who can raise a weapon against him.
-His fellows stand (at the alert), attentive to his (orders),
- "Gilgamesh does not leave a son to his father,
- day and night he arrogantly ...
- Is he the shepherd of Uruk-Haven,
- is he their shepherd...
- bold, eminent, knowing, and wise,
- Gilgamesh does not leave a girl to her mother(?)!"

- When Aruru heard this she created within herself the zikrtt of Anu.
- Aruru washed her hands, she pinched off some clay, and threw it into the wilderness.
- In the wildness, she created valiant Enkidu,
born of Silence, endowed with strength by Ninurta."

What was the reason for which Enkidu was made? Simply because Gilgamesh was too proud and reigned too hard upon his subjects. He ruled only Uruk, of which this is not.

My name is chaos, or Yeshua if it pleases you to use it as some refer to me by it. I will accept either, or sawbones, but I will not accept 'fool'.

I will admit you have knowledge, sawbones, but you are wrong. The Hero King of Uruk rules the entire concept of the "civilized world". Being in the realm of civilization, this place also belongs to me.

[A small smile.]

Are you the same Gilgamesh of the stories? Or are you a different version, unknown to mankind?

I am the very same one.

Ah, then let me be more clear upon this...

You were created by the gods. You ruled Uruk. A man was created because of your mistreatment of your subjects. When that man died, you sought eternal life from those who were said to have survived the flood; you were denied it.

Despite any strength you have beyond them, if you can die, you are better than no man.

Aah but you are wrong on two counts. First, eternal life was granted to me through my own exploits. Second, I have obtained the Holy Grail and had my wish granted.

Your own exploits? But not by the gods? I find that makes my point still stand in many ways. The gods did not find you worthy, and so you move to outskirt them. But this has never worked for any man. The gods will catch up to them eventually. Death will come to all in time.

My own exploits. Immortality can only be granted through the making of a legend. I have survived history so far and I will continue to do so.

And the gods can be damned. With my Star of Creation, even they stand no chance.

There was a man in my time. By crossing bodies he hoped to gain immortality. But by his own desire, he was eventually felled.

What a fool. If he wanted it badly enough, he would have made an impact in history to gain his place among heroes.

Being remembered for all time, and immortality, are two separate things.

I feel as if I should advise you to be careful of your pride. There is a saying, "Pride comes before the fall."
