Worry about them? I don't--I've killed plenty of people in my lifetime. Soldiers in single combat, entire armies in impossible odds, but I never did anything like worry about those I fought. Why should I, when a death in honorable combat is the best that any warrior can ask for? And would they have worried in my position, or reveled in the glory of defeating me?

[Lancer paused, idly wondering why he was bothering to be so honest with Gilgamesh of all people.]

...I truly regretted the outcome of a fight once. Only once, and never before or since. But worry? Never.

I just don't like an idiot of a king who thinks he's perfect. I was born into royalty too, you know; the difference between us is that I decided to earn my reputation instead of rely on my bloodline and protect the weak rather than automatically place myself above them.
